Hi Lovely Readers. I've been quiet on my blog and social media over the last month but there are going to be some exciting changes for the better going on around here over the next month or so as I realign my blog with my ideals and lifestyle (more on that soon)!
Firstly, I've decided to write a monthly (possibly fortnightly) blog series called "Arrived On My Doorstep". It came about for several reasons but mainly, thanks to this little old blog, I am in a position to see some of the latest products to hit the market, often before they even reach the shelves which is so awesome for both you and me. There is so much awesomeness going on in every aspect of retail at the moment, it needs to be shared and I love sharing it. But...
Due to the sheer number of products arriving on my doorstep each week, I was getting swamped and a creative block on how to share them all with you without inundating my Facebook and Instagram pages with product shots which is not the look I want to go for! Sure, from time to time, if I really love a product I will share it with you on there as word of mouth is the best form of advertising and you can always rest assured that it will be a genuine recommendation. But I know an inundation of advertorial posts is not what you want to see so there had to be a better way of letting you all know about these awesome new products without turning you all away. So thus "Arrived On My Doorstep" was born - a monthly (possibly fortnightly) blog series to let you all know whats new to the market with quick, to the point information. How does that sound? I'd love your feedback!
My first "Arrived On My Doorstep" blog is all about food. And with the Auckland Food Show coming up there are heaps of great products in here to tantalise your tastebuds...
Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Chocolate
New to the Almond Breeze range is this Chocolate Almond Milk. Ideal hot or cold as well in desserts and baking. I'm looking forward to swapping out the standard milk from my favourite chocolate cake recipe and using Almond Breeze Chocolate Milk to see how it turns out. Only 120 calories per glass, vegan and a great source of calcium and lactose free too! Available in supermarkets in New Zealand in late June and early July.
This delicious combination of wholefood ingredients including grains, beans and vegetables makes for the most delicious vegetarian burger! I was a vegetarian for 10 years so I know a thing or two about vegetarian products. A lot miss the mark but thankfully the Bean Supreme Kumara Burgers are delicious. We loved them. I served them with homemade coleslaw made with a light dressing of Best Foods Mayonnaise with a Zing of Lemon. So good! And only one teaspoon of sugar per serve! I'll definitely be buying these again for an easy dinner on a busy week night.

The good people at I Love Pies have released a new small serve pie - Moroccan Lamb and Spinach. Lovingly handmade using their famous sour cream puff pastry, the delicate Moroccan spices blend beautifully with the 100% New Zealand lamb. My inner American squealed when I saw this beautiful collaboration - Cadbury Dairy Milk and Oreos! Yes, it really does taste like an Oreo! Its next level cookies and cream! Available in Original Oreo, Oreo Mint and Oreo Strawberry. My favourite was the Oreo Mint. Available in supermarkets nationwide retailing at $3.99 per 180 gram block.
Howler Hotdogs are exactly what you see - mini hotdogs on a stick. Available in Original Dogs and Cheesy Dogs, simply bake at 180 for 15 minutes. Available in bags of 16. These are a great little party food (a great alternative to cocktail sausages). But they are so much more than party food. Howler Hotdogs kept good company with some big names as a finalist in the 2015 Artisan Emerging Food Producer Awards. Check out that serving suggestion over a shot glass of dipping sauce! Very fancy!
And finally a treat for our gluten free readers. There's no need to miss out with great companies like gftreets creating goodies like this! gftreets are rebranding their amazing gluten free range. This is the new packaging rolling out for the Cake Style Donuts which are wheat free, soy free, nut free and yeast free as well as gluten free.
